Inhibitory potential of phytochemicals on five SARS-CoV-2 proteins: <i>in silico</i> evaluation of endemic plants of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019, caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus, has prompted global health concerns. In response, researchers have been conducting investigations on active compounds in plants that may hold potential to inhibit proliferation virus. aim this study was simulate and predict structural interactions selected isolated from 28 endemic Bosnia Herzegovina against main protease (Mpro), papain-like (PLpro), RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), spike glycoprotein uridylate-specific endoribonuclease (NendoU) SARS-CoV-2. majority compounds, especially hesperidin, showed great binding affinity target proteins. highest for Mpro observed genistein while terms interactions, both achieved interest. Hesperidin luteolin were with PLpro, but no significant observed. For RdRp, hesperidin quercetin affinity, where formed fisetin glycoprotein, interactions. NendoU obtained isorhamnetin, Although these findings appear encouraging, further research is needed, which includes vitro vivo assessments, along clinical trials, provide evidence therapeutic uses plants.
